Terms of use
The rules for using askNib, kept short. Last updated 7 October 2026.
Acceptance
These terms govern your use of asknib.com, the askNib plugin for ChatGPT and related services (the “Services”) provided by askNib (“askNib”, “we”, “us”). By using the Services you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Services.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 to create an account, and if you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Services only with a parent's or guardian's permission. You are responsible for your account and all activity under it. We may set, change or remove usage limits, features and prices at any time.
Using askNib well
You may not use the Services to break the law; harass, threaten or harm anyone; create sexual content or content that endangers children; infringe or misappropriate others' rights; share others' private information; circumvent limits, sign-in or safeguards; overload, probe, scrape or reverse engineer the Services; or misrepresent a lesson as professional advice. We may refuse any request, and remove content or suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion, with or without notice.
Your questions and lessons
You are responsible for what you submit, and you confirm you have the rights to it. You grant askNib a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable and sublicensable license to use, store, reproduce, modify, publish, display, distribute and create derivative works from your questions, links, documents and other submissions and the lessons made from them, to operate, promote, improve and develop the Services and our other products, including training and evaluating AI systems. Subject to that license and to the visibility settings available to you, you may use lessons made for you for your personal, non-commercial learning. As between you and askNib, askNib owns the Services and the lessons, drawings, voices and other output they produce, except your own submissions.
Feedback
If you send us ideas, suggestions or feedback, we may use them for any purpose without obligation or compensation to you.
Third-party services
The Services may be accessed through or rely on third-party services, such as ChatGPT, Google sign-in and AI model providers. Your use of those services is governed by their terms, and askNib is not responsible for them. Features may be labeled beta or experimental and may change or stop at any time.
AI makes mistakes
Lessons are generated by AI and may be inaccurate, incomplete, offensive or out of date. They are not professional advice. You use them at your own risk and should verify anything important.
Our property
The Services, including askNib, Nib, the software, design and content, are owned by askNib and its licensors. Except for the limited rights above, no rights are granted to you.
Copyright complaints
We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Send notices to hello@asknib.com with: your signature; identification of the work and of the material claimed to infringe, with its location (such as a link); your contact information; a statement of your good-faith belief that the use is not authorized; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the owner. We may remove material and terminate repeat infringers.
No warranty, and limits
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “as is” AND “as available”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT AND ACCURACY. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Services at any time. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ASKNIB WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, AND OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR US$50. Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these limits, so they apply only to the extent permitted.
Indemnity
You will defend, indemnify and hold harmless askNib from any claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your content, your use of the Services or your violation of these terms.
Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from or relating to these terms or the Services will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court and either party may seek injunctive relief for misuse of intellectual property. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this provision. If the class-action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim will proceed in court, not in arbitration. Any claim not subject to arbitration will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction. You and askNib waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class or representative action. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing hello@asknib.com within 30 days of first accepting these terms.
General
You consent to receive communications from us electronically, and agree that electronic communications satisfy any legal requirement for a writing. You may not use the Services where prohibited by U.S. export or sanctions laws or if you are on a U.S. government restricted-party list. Any claim relating to the Services must be brought within one year after it arises, or it is permanently barred, to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. These terms and the privacy policy are the entire agreement between you and askNib about the Services. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them without restriction.
Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for any reason. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
Changes
We may change these terms at any time. Changes take effect when posted with an updated date, and your continued use means you accept them.
